NC State gymnastics has a full weekend planned beginning this Friday night, hosting another tri-meet consisting of William & Mary and Centenary. The team will then head onto the road for a quad-meet this Sunday against Temple, Northern Illinois and EAGL matchup George Washington.
The Wolfpack has had a successful start to its season, even persevering through its previous meet with New Hampshire and UNC-Chapel Hill. The Wolfpack had hit a slump in the first half of the meet but was able to pick itself up to finish the night strong to protect its national ranking.
The Wolfpack’s history with William & Mary is one of good results for the Pack. NC State has a 19-0 winning history against William & Mary. The Pack scores an average of 195.240 when matched up against the Tribe.
Both the Tribe and Centenary haven’t fared well this season, frequently coming in last place with scores relatively low compared to the Pack’s performance. Centenary’s highest team score this season so far is 191.650. The Tribe’s top score is 192.150 which the Tribe achieved in a quad-meet, the only meet this season that the Tribe did not place last.
Similar to the Tribe, the Wolfpack has seen mostly success against George Washington with a history of 7-3. The Pack averages a score of 195.310. The Colonials had a good start to the season but peaked at its Pink Meet quad-meet against West Virginia, William & Mary and Pittsburgh with their highest score of 195.375. Since then, the Colonials have hit a bump in the road but have been climbing back with their most recent score, 194.900 at a dual meet.
Northern Illinois has recently begun to have a strong season as the team has improved. In its most recent meet, the Huskies were able to score a season high of 196.125. The Huskies’ latest scores are competitive with the Wolfpack’s own scores.
Temple had a slow start to its season as well and has begun to consistently raise its score above the 193.000 mark to be considered competitive with the Pack’s average of 195.183.
The Wolfpack will begin its weekend at Reynolds Coliseum at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21. The Pack will then be hosted in Washington DC for the quad-meet at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23.
