The No. 8 NC State women’s basketball team travels to Pittsburgh this Thursday in an ACC road game. The Wolfpack will look to extend its three-game winning streak, while Pitt faces the tall task of winning its first game since November.
The Panthers (3-14, 0-6 ACC) are in the midst of a nightmare season, having lost their last 10 games. The Panthers’ last win came Nov. 30 in an eight-point victory over Ole Miss. Despite being winless in ACC play, Pittsburgh has kept games competitive, only losing one ACC game by more than 10 points.
The Panthers are led in scoring by graduate guard Aysia Bugg, who is averaging 13.1 points per game, and freshman guard Amber Brown, who has 10.4 points. Brown also leads the team in rebounds per game with 8.4.
The Wolfpack (17-1, 6-1 ACC) has responded to dropping its first ACC decision at North Carolina by reeling off dominating performances versus Notre Dame, No. 13 Florida State and Wake Forest. NC State’s offensive attack is led by sophomore forward Elissa Cunane at 16.9 points per game and senior guard Aislinn Konig at 10.7 points. Cunane also leads the team in rebounds per game at 10.4, total rebounds and blocks.
Tipoff is at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, and the game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
