The NC State men’s basketball held on after a late scoring surge from Clemson to improve to 4-3 in ACC play and 13-5 overall on the season. Here are some standout stats from the 60-54 win.
13/11 – Points/rebounds for redshirt junior forward D.J. Funderburk, who recorded his first career double-double. Funderburk also had his hands full all day defensively, guarding Clemson’s star big man Aamir Simms.
52 – Points scored by NC State’s starters. Despite bench players contributing a combined 49 minutes, the players off the pine scored just eight points.
6 – Minutes played by redshirt freshman center Manny Bates before he got injured. Bates took a shot to the neck when he got tangled up with Simms. Bates currently holds the program record for blocks by a freshman with just 18 games in the season. If he is out for an extended period of time, it will be a big blow for the Wolfpack.
39 – Percentage of free throws Clemson hit. The Tigers struggled from the line all night, and despite the Wolfpack committing 23 fouls, the Tigers got just nine points from the charity stripe.
40 – Minutes played by redshirt senior guard C.J. Bryce. In just his second game after returning from a concussion, Bryce played the full 40 minutes, scoring 11 points and hauling in nine rebounds.
