Although the NC State women’s swim team lost 127-173 on the road against Virginia this Saturday, the men beat Virginia by a score of 169-131 and the diving team had a solid performance as well. 

From the NC State men’s team (6-1, 3-0 ACC), senior Coleman Stewart and freshman Nyles Korstanje were impressive like always. Stewart swept both backstroke events, with a pool record time of 45.64 in 100-yard back and a time of 1:43.31 in the 200-yard back. Korstanje won both the 50-yard free and 100-yard with times of 19.63 in 50-yard and 43.78 in 100-yard. 

Freshman Ross Dant had himself a day as well, winning individual titles in multiple events too. Dant took home the gold in 500-yard free with a time of 4:23.60 and in 1000-yard free with a time of 9:00.86. Other individual titles include one by freshman Hunter Tapp in the 200-yard free with a time of 1:37.30 and senior Noah Hensley in 100-yard butterfly with a time of 47.31. 

The men’s team dominated the relays as well, winning both the 200-yard Medley Relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay. Stewart, sophomore Rafal Kusto, junior Luke Sobolewski, and freshman Hunter Tapp finished the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:26.08 and Korstanje, senior Noah Hensley, Tapp, and Stewart finished the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:53.97. 

Although the women’s team (6-2, 2-1 ACC) didn’t get the victory, the team had some stellar performances at Virginia. Sophomores Emma Muzzy and Kylee Alons both broke pool records. Muzzy won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:58.43 and Alons won the 100-yard Butterfly by a time of 52.49. Alons also took home an individual title in 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.80. Katharine Berkoff had two individual titles as well today, both being in backstroke. Berkoff won 100-yard Backstroke with a time of 52.37 and won 200-yard Backstroke with a time of 1:53.43. 

The diving team had a solid performance as well today. Men’s senior diver James Brady won the 3 meter with a season-best of 369.15. Freshman Bayne Bennett also had a season best, finishing on the podium with a score of 304.80. Women’s senior diver Madeline Kline had second-place finishes in 1 meter and 3 meter. In 1 meter, Kline finished with a season best of 299.55. 

The final meet of the regular season will be at Virginia Tech on Saturday, Feb. 1.
