The NC State Wolfpack wrestling team welcomes the Princeton Tigers into Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum this Saturday, Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. for its eighth dual match of the season. The Pack (7-0) comes in ranked No. 6 in the country, while the Tigers (2-2) are ranked No. 12.
The Pack has had consistent production from redshirt junior Hayden Hidlay and redshirt freshman Trent Hidlay. Hayden Hidlay has continued his consistent dominance with an 18-1 record in the 157-pound weight class. His brother, Trent Hidlay, has posted an impressive 15-2 record in the 184-pound weight class in his first campaign.
Two of the other top performers for the Pack have been redshirt junior Tariq Wilson and redshirt junior Thomas Bullard. The team relies on its older guys as its consistent performers. Wilson has posted an 18-4 record in the 141-pound weight class. Bullard comes into the dual with the same record at 18-4 in the 165-pound weight class.
The team’s depth and experience is something that will help as ACC play approaches, with just three more nonconference duals left.
Princeton has faced some hefty competition to begin the season, with duals against No. 7 Lehigh, No. 9 Oklahoma State and No. 1 Iowa. The Tigers were able to pull off the win against Lehigh and battled closely with Oklahoma State, losing 18-15.
Its top performers have been Patrick Brucki, who is ranked third in the country in the 197-pound weight class, and Patrick Glory, who wrestles at 125 pounds and is also ranked third in the nation. Brucki boasts a 10-2 record, while Glory is still undefeated on the season at 13-0.
This match will be one of the toughest nonconference duels the Pack will have as they hope to continue their dominance.
