Graduate Lauren Phillips will represent the NC State rifle team in the individual smallbore competition at the NCAA Championships on March 9.
Phillips spent her first two seasons at Nebraska before transferring to NC State for her final two years of eligibility. She has had an illustrious final two seasons, leading the Wolfpack to its current No. 11 ranking in the top 25.
As the defending champion of the smallbore competition in the Great America Rifle Conference, Phillips returned to the event this year and finished in third place with a score of 582. This was her third top-three finish at the event in her career.
Phillips was also named second team All-GARC selection in smallbore competition for the season. Overall, she was second team All-GARC.
Only 48 shooters across the country qualify for the championships, including four in the smallbore competition.
Phillips will compete on March 9 at McAlister Field House on the campus of The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.
