Led by senior Hannah Moore in her final collegiate competition, the NC State women’s swimming and diving team finished 18th at NCAA Championships in Columbus, Ohio this week.
Moore finished a career-best third in the 1,650-yard freestyle, garnering All-American honors in the event for the third straight year and breaking her own school record with a time of 15:40.68. Freshman Tamila Holub also took home All-American honors in the event, finishing eighth.
Similar to in the 1,650 free, Moore also collected All-American honors in the 500-yard freestyle for the third straight year, finishing seventh with a time of 4:37.78. Moore was an honorable mention All-American in her other individual event, coming in 13th in the 400-yard individual medley.
Junior Elise Haan was the Pack’s other individual swimmer on the week. Haan broke the school record in the 100-yard backstroke with a swim of 50.42, finishing fourth place and becoming an All-American in the event. Haan also picked up an honorable mention in the 200-yard backstroke, qualifying for the “B” final and finishing in 16th.
The other two finals appearances for NC State came in relays. Sophomore Ky-Lee Perry, senior Krista Duffield, junior Lexie Lupton and Haan garnered honorable mention All-American honors in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing sixth in the “B” final and 14th overall.
Haan, Duffield, Lupton and freshman Olivia Calegan competed in the “B” final of the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing 8th in the final and 16th overall to wrap up the meet for the Pack.
