The NC State men’s and women’s tennis teams will play a total of four matches over this Easter weekend.
Men’s Tennis:
The Wolfpack (11-5, 1-4 ACC) is back home and looking to get back on track following a three-game road trip which saw only one victory. Coming off a crushing defeat against Miami last weekend, which saw NC State lose in a tie-breaker, the Pack is hoping to use the home-court advantage to seal victories against No. 25 Notre Dame and Boston College this weekend.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish (12-9, 3-2 ACC): The Fighting Irish began the season on a five-game win streak, but have dropped nine of the last 14 matches and are currently sitting in seventh place in the ACC. Junior Alex Lebedev is currently the No. 48 singles player and is who the Wolfpack will need to wear down in doubles in order to get the victory.
The match is set to begin in J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center at 5 p.m. on Friday.
Boston College Eagles (7-7, 0-5 ACC): After beginning the season 6-1, the Eagles have lost six of their last seven, and are coming into the weekend off of two 7-0 shutout losses. The Wolfpack needs to win this match in order to prove its place in the ACC. Currently at a 1-4 record, the Pack can’t afford to drop a game against a team that hasn’t won a conference match yet.
The match is set to begin in J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Women’s Tennis:
The Wolfpack (9-10, 2-4 ACC) is coming off of two losses, but will look to take advantage of the hype around a neutral site game in Charlotte against Clemson, and will try to build momentum in the first of a three-game road trip against Virginia Tech.
Clemson Tigers (8-9, 1-5 ACC): Currently in second to last place in the ACC, the Tigers have struggled to build momentum this year having not won more than three matches in a row. Losers of three of the last four games, Clemson is not looking like a threat to the No. 42 Wolfpack.
The match is set to begin at noon on Friday.
Virginia Tech Hokies (11-5, 2-5 ACC): After going a perfect 9-0 in the nonconference part of the schedule, the Hokies have struggled in conference play having lost five of their last six games. They boast an 8-1 home record though, with the only loss coming against Syracuse earlier this month. Only one spot separates the Wolfpack and Hokies in the ACC standings, so this is an important match for both teams.
The match is set to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
