The NC State men’s and women’s diving teams will be competing in the NCAA Zone B Championships Monday through Wednesday this week in Knoxville, Tennessee. NC State will face 18 other teams from the southeastern United States.
NC State is sending five competitors to the event, four men and one woman, each of them competing in all of the three events.
The 1-meter and 3-meter dives will be taking place on Monday and Tuesday, while the platform event will occur on Wednesday to finish out the competition.
Sophomore Madeline Klinem who won the ACC Championship for the platform event, is the only member of the women’s team going for the Wolfpack. Kline had a score of 258.40 to win at ACCs. Kline also finished 10th in the 1-meter dive and 16th in the 3-meter dive, losing out in the prelims.
Sophomore James Brady broke his own school record with a score of 402.35 on the 3-meter board, which placed him third in the event at ACCs. Brady has achieved the highest scores for the Wolfpack this season in all three events.
Freshman Holt Gray, senior Harrison Mitchell and junior Stewart Spanbauer will also be competing for the Wolfpack.
Zone B is loaded with talent, but NC State will have some chances to qualify individual divers for the NCAA Championships later in the month.
