The NC State men’s basketball team has landed its second graduate transfer of the offseason, as guard Eric Lockett will join the Wolfpack following two seasons at Florida International, according to a tweet from Jeff Goodman of ESPN.
NC State will be the fourth different school of Lockett’s college career. He averaged 14.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last season, starting all 32 of the Panther’s games. In 2016-17, Lockett appeared in 31 games and averaged 5.1 points and three rebounds per game for FIU.
Lockett spent the 2015-16 season at Chipola, where he averaged 7.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game. He started his career at George Mason, but earned a medical redshirt after only playing in five games before suffering a season-ending injury.
Lockett’s addition to the Wolfpack comes just a week after guard Lavar Batts was granted his release from NC State, and the 6-foot-5 guard should be a welcome addition to head coach Kevin Keatt’s rotation of back-court players.
