American flags dot the western end of the Court of North Carolina Monday evening on Nov. 3, 2014. The 1,191 flags, each representative of an NC State veteran, were placed on campus by the Student Veterans Association in celebration of Veterans Day.
NC State will be honoring all students and alumni who have served or are currently serving in the military for Veterans Day.
On Monday, Nov. 12, NC State will be commemorating Veterans Day with the annual 2-mile run hosted by Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at 5:30 a.m.
According to NC State News, the Army, Navy and Air Force units will begin running at 6 a.m. with the NC State basketball team and other attendees following suit. All are invited to attend.
After the run, there will be a half-hour long remembrance ceremony at the Belltower, which was constructed to honor NC State alumni who served and died in World War I, for all individuals from NC State who have served in the military.
NC State Staff Senate along with the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity and NC State Dining will be honoring NC State veterans with a free lunch on Monday, Nov. 12. at NC State’s Terrace Dining Room at Lonnie Poole Golf Course, State Club Restaurant at Park Alumni Center or 1887 Bistro at Talley Student Union.
Events to celebrate Veterans Day took place on Saturday, such as the annual Raleigh Veterans Day Parade which, according to WRAL, drew in sparse crowds.
