Philip Rivers, quarterback, Los Angeles Chargers
Rivers has been a part of the first string team for the Los Angeles Chargers since 2006. After being drafted in the first round of the 2004 NFL draft, Rivers has made his mark on the Chargers’ franchise with over 4,000 passing yards almost every season. This past weekend, the quarterback faced off the Oakland Raiders and led his team to victory, 26-10. Rivers ended the game with two touchdowns, 339 passing yards and completed 81.5 percent of his passes.
Russell Wilson, quarterback, Seattle Seahawks
Wilson has solidified the role as the starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks since 2012. Wilson has a career total of 171 touchdowns in 101 games since entering into the NFL. The NC State native has led the Seahawks in many tough games, including Sunday’s matchup when they fell to the Los Angeles Rams, 31-33. Wilson contributed 198 passing yards with three touchdowns in this game.
B.J. Hill, defensive tackle, New York Giants
From the 2018 NFL draft, third-round pick B.J. Hill has proven himself to the Giants as a defensive tackle. Hill had five total tackles against the Panthers Sunday.
Bradley Chubb, outside linebacker, Denver Broncos
Chubb, a 2018 first-round pick, recorded one solo tackle and one assisted tackle in Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. The Broncos lost 16-34, bringing their record down to 3-2. So far this season, Chubb has recorded 12 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
Justin Jones, defensive tackle, Los Angeles Chargers
The defensive tackle for the Los Angeles Chargers, Jones has made an appearance in all five games this season, tallying eight total tackles. Playing alongside Philip Rivers in the win against Oakland Sunday, Jones secured one solo tackle.
Stephen Hauschka, kicker, Buffalo Bills
Hauschka has started his season with seven total field goals made in five games. Hauschka was originally drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2008 and traded a few times before finally finding his home in Buffalo in 2017. The kicker was essential in the Bills’ game this past weekend against the Tennessee Titans when he made two field goals to secure the win at 13-12.
Nyheim Hines, running back, Indianapolis Colts
Hines was a fourth-round pick for the Indianapolis Colts as a running back in the 2018 draft. Hines has tallied three total touchdowns this season with 164 receiving yards and 99 rushing yards. The Colts took a tough loss to the New England Patriots Thursday evening, 24-38, but the running back contributed 45 rushing yards along with 45 receiving yards.
