The NC State women’s soccer returns home after a four-game road trip to face the Miami Hurricanes on Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Dail Soccer Field.
The Wolfpack comes in at 9-4-3 (2-3-2) and hasn’t played a home game since Sept. 27 and went 1-2-1 over the three-week road trip.
Miami comes to Raleigh with a 5-7-3 (2-4-1) record and most recently tied with Boston College on Oct. 13.
Gudrun Haralz is the Hurricanes’ best scorer with seven goals and 16 points so far. Mallory Olsson is second on the team with three goals on the campaign.
Phallon Tullis-Joyce is the Canes’ goalkeeper, and she has a 1.47 GAAvg to go with a 0.716 save percentage. She has two shutouts this year.
Junior midfielder Tziarra King leads the Pack and is tied for third in the conference with eight goals. Junior forward Kia Rankin is second on the team with four goals. Senior forward Maxine Blackwood and freshman midfielder Anna Toohey have three goals each.
Senior goalie Sydney Wootten has played every second in the net for the Wolfpack this year and is allowing 1.01 GAAvg with a .800 save percentage. She has five shutouts this season.
This is a big game as the Pack is one point ahead of Miami in the conference standings. The Wolfpack has three games, which includes the Miami game, left before the ACC Tournament and could be in trouble of missing the tournament with a loss to the Hurricanes. On the flip side, with a good finish, the Pack could still get in range to host a tournament game.
The strength of NC State has been the second half of games where it has outscored teams 19-8. On the other hand, Miami has been outscored 13-9 in the second half and overtime. If the Wolfpack can at least be tied at halftime, they can use depth to win the game in the second half.
The game kicks off at 7 p.m. at Dail Soccer Field and will be broadcast scorer on the ACC Network Extra.
