The NC State men’s golf team finished fourth at Maui Jim Intercollegiate golf tournament at Mirabel Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona over the weekend.
As a team, the Pack was extremely consistent. The team finished with a score of 273 every day. After day one, the Wolfpack was tied for fifth, before moving to fourth on day two and maintaining its spot in the standings on the final day.
Georgia Tech won the tournament, finishing two shots ahead of Arizona State and seven shots ahead of NC State. LSU finished third.
The course was a par 70, with a 210 final score being par.
Senior Stephen Franken and junior Benjamin Shipp were the best Wolfpack golfers this weekend. The duo finished tied for fourth in the individual standings, shooting 201 apiece. Bryson Nimmer from Clemson won the individual championship with a final score of 195.
Sophomore Easton Paxton finished tied for 20th with a 206, while junior Christian Salzer completed the tournament tied for 43rd with a 212. Senior Harrison Rhoades was the last Pack golfer, as he shot a 218, which tied him for 65th.
The best individual single round was shot by Franken on day two. He rebounded from a 71 on day one to shoot a 63 on day two.
The Wolfpack returns to action on Oct. 6 for the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh.
