Philip Rivers, quarterback, Los Angeles Chargers
After a strong showing in a week one loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Rivers dominated once again in week two, leading the Chargers to victory over the Buffalo Bills. Rivers threw for over 250 yards and three touchdowns, completing 85 percent of his passes. Running back Melvin Gordon and Rivers connected for two out of his three touchdown passes on the day, continuing their chemistry from week one.
Final Stats: 23/27 passing (85 percent), 256 yards passing, three passing touchdowns
Nyheim Hines, running back, Indianapolis Colts
While Hines did not have a big day numbers-wise against Washington, he did score his first career touchdown. Hines had an impressive run for his first touchdown as he made three defenders miss on his way into the endzone. This rushing touchdown and two passing touchdowns from quarterback Andrew Luck led the Colts to their first win of the season, 21-9.
Final Stats: Four carries for seven yards and one touchdown
Bradley Chubb, linebacker, Denver Broncos
After a solid overall start to the fifth overall pick in this past year’s NFL draft, Chubb had a solid game against Jon Gruden and the Raiders’ offense. Chubb stayed at strong-side linebacker this week, teaming with Von Miller to hold the Raiders’ offense to just 19 points and win the game 20-19.
Final Stats: Two tackles
Russell Wilson, quarterback, Seattle Seahawks
Wilson did not have a great showing against the Bears on Monday Night Football as he finished with an incredibly low 11.2 QBR rating. He struggled to have good pocket presence and never looked too comfortable. He threw for less than 250 yards and had an interception. Wilson’s struggles led to a 24-17 loss to the Bears. With the Seahawks now 0-2 to begin the season, Wilson will need a big game against the Dallas Cowboys to help Seattle secure its first victory in 2018.
Final Stats: 22/36 completion (61 percent), 226 yards passing, 17 yards rushing, two passing touchdowns, one interception
Stephen Hauschka, kicker, Buffalo Bills
Hauschka was perfect this week for the Bills who had another rough game against the Los Angeles Chargers, losing 31-20.
Final Stats: 2 for 2 on field goals and extra points, 43 yards and 40 yards long
Justin Jones, defensive tackle, Los Angeles Chargers
Jones did not start against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, but he remained in the defensive line rotation for the Chargers. Even with one tackle, Jones kept his consistent play going into week two, as the Chargers dominated the Bills for the majority of the game with a 31-20 victory.
Final Stats: one tackle
B.J. Hill, Defensive Tackle, New York Giants
Although Hill did not show up on the stat sheet, he started on the Giants defensive line for the second consecutive game. The Giants lost to the Cowboys 20-13. Hill has four tackles on the season thus far and will look to add to that total next week against the Houston Texans.
Final Stats: No stats
