The NC State gymnastics team will be competing this Saturday at Reynolds Coliseum at 4 p.m. as it hosts Ball State and William & Mary in a tri-meet.
The season so far looks bright for the Pack as its record remains a clean 3-0. Last week, the Pack took on UNC-Chapel Hill and won 194.650-194.375. The Pack claimed higher scores in the balance beam and uneven bars.
Sophomore Drew Grantham scored first all-around with a score of 39.200 but was the only Pack member to score first in any events. Earning a score of 9.850, Grantham also took first on the beam.
Following Grantham for all-around performance, second place went to senior Chelsea Knight and third place to junior Caitlyn Fillard.
Grantham also placed in three other events: second on the floor exercise, fourth on the bars and fifth on the vault.
Although it wasn’t as strong as her previous performances, Knight still managed to score as high as second place on the beams for individual events. Knight also placed third and fourth on the vault and bars respectively.
Fillard also placed in an individual event, placing fifth on the vault.
With a strong performance, the Pack will host its first competition this season with high expectations to keep a clean record.
Last season NC State defeated William and Mary by 2.575, but the team faced a tough loss against Ball State by 0.1. However, last season the Pack also went on to lose to UNC by a slight margin and defeated them this season, leading to high hopes for this competition Saturday.
