It’s been a wildly successful start for State’s women in the 2011-12 academic year. Featuring a diverse and young lineup, the list of accomplishments can be summed up in one sentence – this is the best start for the Pack in program history.
Going 52-14-2 this fall, State won the Wild Eggs Cardinal Cup while also recording two wins over powerhouse Duke. In addition to this, the Wolfpack picked up its first-ever national ranking in the Golf World Coaches Poll and had a school-record tournament score of 864 in the opening tournament of the year, the Cougar Classic. Canadian freshman Augusta James leads the Pack with a 73.9 stroke average and garnered a No. 47 individual ranking in the national landscape. James shined at the Tar Heel Invitational when she out-scored the top four-ranked players in the nation and finished just one stroke behind the winner.
State’s spring schedule includes appearances in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, Weston, Florida, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Pinehurst, Browns Summit and Greensboro.
