Dec. 1: Wind and Jazz Holiday Concert
Thursday from 7-9
Check out NC State’s wind ensemble and jazz ensemble kick off the holidays with a joint concert. The event runs from 7 – 9 p.m.
Dec. 2: LDOC Ice Skating
Celebrate the end of a long semester with ice skating. NC State’s UAB will be transforming The Brickyard into an ice skating rink. Skates will be supplied by UAB and the ice skating is free to NC State students. UAB’s winter collection apparal will also be available at the event.
Dec. 2-3: 9th Annual St. Nicholas European Christmas Market
Experience a European Christmas Market in Cary, NC at the Saints Cyril and Methodius Church at 2510 Piney Plains Rd. The market will be open Dec. 2 from 5-9 p.m. and Dec. 3 from 10a.m.-7p.m. Peruse through food and gifts from Slovakia, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, Ireland and the British Isles, Italy and Scandinavia. Admission is free.
Dec. 3: Sleigh Rides and Cider
Go on a horse-drawn carriage ride, drink hot apple cider, and listen to live music at the Historic Oak View County Park on 4028 Carya Dr. in Raleigh. Holiday activities will run from 5 – 7.30 p.m.
Dec. 3: Jingle Bell Run
The Arthritis Foundation’s Jingle Bell Run could be a fun stress-reliever for exams, all while benefiting a good cause. The event takes place from 9 – 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s School on 900 Hillsborough Street in Raleigh. Runners are encouraged to tie jingle bells to their shoes and dress festively.
Dec. 3: Grains of Time Fall Concert
The Grains of Time performers are rolling out new music. Dec. 7: Jingle Ball at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences
The Capital City Clauses’ annual Jingle Ball tickets are $30 per person, which includes three drink tickets, food, entertainment and a coat check. Proceeds go towards the purchase of toys and other needs of The Salvation Army of Wake County. Event runs from 6:30 – 10:30 p.m.
Dec. 8-11: North Carolina Executive Mansion Holiday Open House
The first floor of the Executive Mansion will be decorated with NC-grown Christmas trees, ornate mantle displays and floral arrangements. Enjoy local seasonal performances and tour the house. Admission is free and no reservations are required. The hours for the open house are the following: Thursday, Dec. 8, 12-9 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 9, 10-6 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 10, 2-8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 11, 1-4 p.m.
Dec. 10: Snow Day Bar Crawl
From 2-10p.m., visit Rum Runners, Cloud’s Brewing, Hibernian Pub, Isaac Hunter’s Tavern, Coglin’s, London Bridge Pub, The Lynk and/or Carolina Ale House for drink specials.
