The body found on campus Saturday morning has been identified as an NC State student by University Police.
Shail Patel, a junior who studied computer engineering, was found deceased next to his parked car in the Varsity Drive parking lot near Marcom street and Gorman street around 6:30 a.m. on July 30.
Patel’s next-of-kin have been contacted.
“There is no indication of any foul play to have occurred in this death,” said Major David Kelly with University Police.
A cause of death has not yet been determined.
“We are waiting for the medical examiner to give us the final determination into the cause of death,” Kelly said. “We may not receive that [information] for several days.”
Kelly has encouraged all students and faculty to make use of the Counseling Center’s services. The center is located on the second floor of the Student Health Center and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. Emergency counseling services are available for students 24/7 at 919-515-2423.
