Powerlifting was among several events taking place on campus during the Special Olympics Summer Games. The Olympics allow those with disabilities across North Carolina the chance to compete in various sporting events.
The Special Olympics Summer Games began on Friday with the opening ceremony in Reynold’s Coliseum. Athletes from different North Carolina counties competed in nine events in Raleigh, Cary and Holly Springs. The events included athletics, bowling, cheerleading, cycling, gymnastics, powerlifting, softball, swimming and volleyball.
