Ray Kass, an artist and the founder of Mountain Lake Workshop, explains the background of the Master Class performance of "John Cage's STEPS: A Composition For A Painting" in Carmichael Gymnasium on Wednesday, Sept. 19. Kass talked about how the first performance of the work was completed by John Cage in the Mountain Lake Workshop in 1989, later stating that the artist saw it as a representation of "the solitary individual passing through life".
“John Cage’s STEPS – A Composition For A Painting with Ray Kass” was a Master Class hosted by the NCSU Dance Program in Carmichael Gymnasium on Wednesday, Sept. 19. Master Classes are dance classes offered by the NCSU Dance Program which gives students, staff, and faculty members a chance to learn more about dance.
