N.C. State knocked Morehouse down early, cruising to an 87-62 win in its second exhibition game. The Wolfpack was very efficient from the floor, shooting 54 percent, including 6-14 from three.
Sophomore forward T.J. Warren scored a game high 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, posting his second double-double in as many games. Warren shoot 11-15 from the floor, including 2-3 from beyond the three-point arc
With senior center Jordan Vanderberg sidelined with an ankle injury, the Wolfpack exhibited dominance in the paint, collecting 38 total rebounds and scoring 42 points in the paint. The team also capitalized on 14 Morehouse turnovers, scoring 21 fast break points.
State totaled 17 assists and had five players scoring in double digits. The Pack also shot 19-25 from the free throw line, a marked improvement from the 57.5 percent it shot from the stripe in Wednesday’s game against UNC-Pembroke.
Junior guard Desmond Lee scored 13 points and handed out two assists in 31 minutes of action. Lee was energetic all afternoon, attacking the basket and knocking down 4-6 of his free throws.
N.C. State’s junior guard Ralston Turner was also very efficient on offense for the Wolfpack. Turner scored 11 points and tallied three boards for the Pack. The junior also also shot 5-5 from the free throw line.
Freshman forward Kyle Washington came close to his first double-double as a Wolfpacker, dropping in 10 points and collecting nine rebounds. Washington scored the game’s first two baskets, ending the night on 5-8 shooting from the floor.
Freshman guard Anthony “Cat” Barber showed noticeable poise as he dished out six assists while only committing three turnovers. The freshman, who looked markedly more comfortable in Saturday’s exhibition than in Wednesday’s game against the Braves, also contributed 11 points on 4-6 shooting.
State will play its first regular season game of the 2013-2014 season on Friday at 7 p.m. against Appalachian State at PNC Arena.
