NC State track and field made the short 25-mile trip over to Durham, North Carolina for its season finale at the Duke Twilight, where athletes continued to impress.
Junior Grace Hartman, arguably the most impressive of the bunch, capped off an excellent season with another win in the 5000 meter. She notched a personal best and moved to third-fastest in Division I in the 5000 meter with a time of 14:58.11, roughly six seconds back from the first and second-fastest athletes in the country and the all time record of 14:52.18. Subsequently, she moved up to fourth place all time in Division I for the 5000 meter.
Following behind Hartman, sophomore Kate Putman finished second in the 5000 meter with a time of 15:45.61, securing two of three spots on the podium for the Wolfpack.
Senior Patrick Tuohy ran a season best 1:48.13 in the 800 meter to grab second, breaking the outdoor program record of 1:48.59 set by Gavin Gaynor in 2023. Graduate Brett Gardner ran a personal best 3:40.59 to finish 11th in the 1500 meter.
Sophomore Xavier Branker also secured a second place finish at the Duke Twilight, excelling in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 50.46.
Moving up to second on the NC State all time list, the women’s 4×400-meter relay featuring sophomores Madison Moraja, Kyra Durham and Jordyn Parker, with freshman Shaune Ingraham anchoring, set a season-best time of 3:42.11.
Parker moved up to No. 8 all-time in NC State history in the women’s 200 meter with a time of 23.88, placing seventh.
Sophomore Kyron Parker placed 15th in the men’s 200 meter with a time of 21.47, a personal record.
Senior Alexander Nunley and freshman James Coleman set personal records in the 110-meter hurdles, with Nunley placing fourth in 14.11 and Coleman placing seventh with 14.23.
Clocking a season-best time in the 100 meter, graduate Jailen Hobbs placed fourth with a time of 10.40. Freshman Brandon Harris placed 10th in the men’s 100 meter with a season-best 10.60 and 17th in the men’s 200 meter with a season-best 21.55.
The men’s 4×100-meter relay featuring Hobbs, sophomore Tyson Adams, Nunley and Harris recorded a season best 40.28, placing fourth in the event.
With the conclusion of the regular season, the Pack will next head to the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, North Carolina May 15-17.
