Spray-painted, pro-Palestinian messages were discovered on the Memorial Belltower Tuesday morning.
The messages spanned the base of the Belltower and read “Eyes on Rafah,” “Free Pal,” “Gaza,” “Rafah” and three Xs. Red handprints were placed throughout the messages and red paint cascaded down the staircase.
A crew was on site by 9:30 a.m. and completed the clean-up around 10:15 a.m., although faint remnants of the words and handprints remain.
University spokesperson Mick Kulikowski told Technician NC State Police are investigating the vandalism that occurred in the early morning hours of May 28.
