NC State athletics is grinding through its busiest part of the year. With spring and winter sports in full swing, let’s break down the week in the world of Wolfpack athletics.
Women’s basketball goes 0-2 in rivalry weekend
Despite being the class of the ACC for much of the 2023-24 season, NC State women’s basketball dropped both of its rivalry weekend matches, losing to both UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke on the road.
The Wolfpack suffered a defensive collapse against the Tar Heels at Carmichael Arena, giving up a whopping 80 points in a 80-70 loss. Even with the Pack’s offense playing well, Carolina was one step ahead of its Tobacco Road rivals from the jump, outpacing NC State in Chapel Hill.
A few days later, the Wolfpack took another trip down Interstate Highway 40 to Durham for a clash with the Blue Devils in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Once again, the Wolfpack had to play catchup after Duke took a commanding early lead in the first quarter. Ultimately, the red-and-white couldn’t make a comeback, falling 69-58 to Duke.

While the Wolfpack dropped its Saturday game 7-5 with an eighth-inning meltdown, NC State came back and won 10-8 in the rubber match with another impressive offensive performance.
