A man was arrested by NC State University Police early Monday morning after reportedly waving a handgun on Hillsborough Street near campus.
WRAL reported the suspect as Zachary Olson of Cary, North Carolina according to an arrest warrant.
Lauren Barker, senior media relations strategist in University Communications, told Technician that the Raleigh Police Department contacted NC State Police at 12:13 a.m. after receiving a report of a man waving a handgun in the air near the Chipotle restaurant on Hillsborough Street.
NC State Police gathered on the scene and detained the suspect on Dan Allen Drive, where they confiscated a handgun.
Barker said the suspect is not affiliated with the University and was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon on campus.
