Fall sports at NC State are finally starting to see the end of their seasons, with men’s and women’s soccer each only having one more match this year. Meanwhile, baseball had some fall exhibitions, sweeping Walters State in two games.
Men’s soccer draws in both matches this week
Freshman goalkeeper Samuel Terranova showed out against High Point and posted a clean sheet. High Point kept knocking on the door, and Terranova shut the Panthers down every time. The Pack’s defense held its own against High Point’s squad in the scoreless matchup, especially as the Panthers had only lost twice so far this year.
NC State has competed and lost against its last three ranked opponents, so a 1-1 draw against No. 22 Syracuse was a breath of fresh air for the squad. The Pack was the first to score early on in the second half with a goal from freshman right wing Hakim Karamoko, which was answered by Syracuse with a goal of their own.

Women’s soccer goes 1-1 as season’s end approaches
NC State women’s soccer capitalized on an early lead against Syracuse to shut down the Orange 2-0 late last week. Freshman forward Hannah Jibril scored her first collegiate goal to put the Pack on the board early on. The Wolfpack defensive unit shut down all offensive advances from Syracuse with junior goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas recording her third shutout this season while junior midfielder Annika Wohner finished off the win with a late goal.
The Pack fell to the Fighting Irish 0-1 in its last home game of the season. Pratapas put up with an unrelenting Notre Dame offense that recorded 24 shots on the goal through the matchup and only let one through. NC State struggled to hold onto the ball throughout the game and was unable to put up any points.

Volleyball falls to Pitt, rebounds against Virginia
Taking on No. 7 Pitt at home is a challenge that the Pack has looked toward this whole season. NC State tried its best to keep up but kept losing steam in the middle of sets, dropping all three to Pitt. The red-and-white had issues with errors in set one, putting up 11 while Pitt only had six. Against a squad like the Panthers, mistakes like that make or break a team’s performance.
After a disappointing loss, NC State came back to sweep the Virginia Cavaliers. The defense from the team was what put them ahead, with six players tallying at least one block assist and sophomore outside hitter Courtney Bryant leading the team with nine digs. The third set was the hardest for the Pack — it dealt with six lead changes, 15 ties and went to 27-25 — but ultimately, NC State pulled through.

Baseball shows promise in both exhibition games
The Pack9 squashed Walters State 13-4 in game one and 7-6 in game two. Walters State tried to put up a fight in the first game early on, but NC State put up six runs in the sixth inning to take a hold on its lead. The Wolfpack’s young, talented pitching staff didn’t show out the same way they were expected, allowing nine runs overall.
