In an effort to combat teacher retention in Wake County, teachers who have spent fewer than five years on the job will receive a pay increase of nearly $900 a year. Teachers who have spent more than 30 years on the job will receive $2,250. Wake County commissioners made this possible by providing $16 million to support teachers’ salaries. This plan is part of a five-year plan to meet or exceed the pay of similar districts worldwide.
