After Friday night’s 4-1 loss at the hands of the Clemson Tigers, the NC State women’s soccer team then slipped in its second-to-last home game of the season Sunday afternoon at Dail Soccer Stadium, falling 1-0 to Louisville.
The Wolfpack (4-13-1, 0-8-0 ACC) honored its eight graduating players before the match, recognizing seniors Jenna Kalwa, Caroline Gentry, Brittany Stanko, Shannon Cleaver and Michelle Oestreich. Redshirt junior defender Dayna Tomayko was also honored.
Kalwa, the captain from Pennington, New Jersey, has played in a total of 48 games for the Pack since her freshman year recording a total of nine points and two goals.
Raleigh natives Gentry and Oestreich have represented the Wolfpack in 72 and 47 games, respectively. Gentry has racked up 19 points and six goals, alongside Oestreich who has tallied three assists and three points.
Stanko, a forward from Glenmoore, Pennsylvania, has played 64 games in red and white, totaling 12 goals and 28 points in her career.
Cleaver, a Durham native, joined the team in 2012 but did not see the field until her senior season, playing in a total of 10 games.
Tomakyo has been on the field for a total of 46 games, recording three goals and nine points in her Wolfpack career.
The Pack has now gone scoreless in six of its last nine losses,The Cardinals (8-7-2, 4-4-1 ACC) outshooting them 12-10 in Sunday’s match to add another scoreless match to the books.
Louisville entered the contest off two tough losses, losing to No. 1 Florida State 3-1 Oct. 17 and No. 2 Virginia 1-0 Thursday night.
The game’s only goal game in the 26th minute when freshman forward Jill Vetere received the ball from senior midfielder Rachel Avant and fired a shot from 30 yards past NC State freshman goalkeeper Sydney Wootten.
NC State has a two games left in its season as they face No. 2 Virginia at home Wednesday night and then end the season on the road at No. 22 Duke.
