The University has announced Mike Mullen to replace retiring Tom Stafford as Vice Chancellor/Dean of the Division of Academic and Student Affairs. Mullen will take is office Aug. 1, according to N.C. State News Services. Mullen comes from the University of Kentucky, where he served as the dean and the associate provost for their division of undergraduate education and undergraduate studies.
Mullen’s experience at the University of Kentucky includes managing 10 units and a staff of 70, with a budget of more than $6 million.
Mullen will take over the new office of the Division of Academic & Student Affairs, which will officially merge July 1. This merge in the former divisions of Undergraduate Academic Programs and Student Affairs will mark a new administrative change. Additionally, Mullen will succeed the 29-year tenure of Vice Chancellor Tom Stafford.
Mullen earned his Ph.D. in Soil Science from N.C. State in 1987 and a minor in microbiology. He received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University. With his experience in soil science and natural resources, Mullen has been published in dozens of scientific journals.
