We aren’t communist. We just want to get that out of the way, but this whole double standard present at Carter Finely Stadium is making us think that maybe that Karl Marx might have been right about class struggles.
While we students and other lowly fans who are actually there to watch the game and yell at the top of our lungs are subjected to frisking, the big rollers sitting up in the Vaughn Towers are laughing at us. They have their opera binoculars out and are just making joke after joke while they are served their expensive cocktails by sexy cabana boys and girls.
That is our guess about what is going on up there. We won’t know. We will be too busy trying to down drinks an hour before the game, trying to get in and finding our happy place while hands slide over our bodies.
Honestly, it is ridiculous that just because some Wolfpack fans are rich enough to enjoy a luxury suite they can also drink as much as they want. Rules should apply to them just as much as they do for us.
If we want to have a dry football stadium then it should be dry in every section — they should abolish all the rules that pertain to alcohol.
We know us fans get a little out of control sometimes during the game and alcohol only contributes to it, but shall we remind you that young and poor people are not the only ones who can get out of control.
We don’t know how rich people fight; perhaps they throw money at each other or hire other people to fight for them, but there is still the possibility that luxury suites guests will get just as out of control as us poor folk.
Unless the University doesn’t want a worker/football fan revolt they would be advised to make every football fan accountable to the no-alcohol policy. Or better yet — allow us to drink, sell alcohol, regulate it and make some money.
You see we’re not communists — just more libertarian.
