The flowers are blooming, exams are right around the corner and for hundreds of students living on Central Campus, Tucker Beach is the place to be.
As the weather is getting warmer, students are more inclined to replace their pants and shirts for shorts, tank tops or some bare skin.
Girls can be seen basking in the sun on the grass surrounding Tucker Beach, while guys show off their shirtless bodies playing volleyball.
Students can find a number of activities to keep themselves in the sun and having fun.
For Morgan Le Meitour, a freshman in biology, and Scott Findlay, a freshman in criminology, the fun comes in the form of hanging out on the grass by Tucker beach.
Le Meitour and Findlay said they come out “everyday the sun is out.”
They spread a sheet out with the “essentials” tossed to the side — cell phones, Starburst Jellybeans and a laptop.
“I like to look at all the people outside, especially the female people. But not in a creepy or strange way,” Findlay said laughing.
Le Meitour and Findlay are not the only students partaking in the spring weather — Keeley Jones, a freshman in environmental technology, said she comes outside to study on the lawn.
“The lawn is always nice to lay on,” Jones said. “The weather is perfect; it’s good getting away from the cold.”Typical spring sports such as volleyball, football and soccer are being played throughout campus — along with less weather-related sports such as biking and skateboarding.
Gregg Dodson, a freshman in mechanical engineering, said he enjoys the warm weather because he can go out biking.
Dodson bikes in the winter, but the warm weather provides a more comfortable environment.
“I thoroughly enjoy the weather,” Dodson said. “There are some dirt jump parks I go to.”
According to Dodson, he and other bicyclists go ride all the time.
For some students, the spring season creates a good outdoor environment for tackling homework.
“I bring my homework outside a lot more often.” Emily Rosenbrough, a freshman in psychology, said. “I play volleyball too.”
Emily La Fratta, a sophomore in English, said she likes to come outside and read. La Fratta said she thinks the weather is a good reason to come outside.
“I find myself making up reasons to come outside,” La Fratta said. “I even come outside for pleasure reading.”
