No bull.
It’s what Sen. Zach Adams said he is offering the student body as a candidate for Student Senate president.
“I ran for a Senate position my freshman year and saw a lot of the senators who controlled the group didn’t necessarily bring real student issues to Student Government,” Adams, an industrial engineering senior, said. “What I can bring is ensuring Student Senate will not waste time on issues that do not concern students.”
Adams, who passed up a chance to attend UNC-Chapel Hill for “bigger and better goals at State,” said he wasn’t always interested in the legislative body’s highest position.
“I had no intentions of becoming Student Senate president when I entered student government, but it has become a passion of mine to work every day for what I believe the students want — no bull,” he said.
Adams said recent tensions between the legislative and executive bodies of Student Government would be a non-factor if elected.
“That problem is going to be solved because I’m really good friends with the three student body president candidate front-runners,” Adams said of Will Quick, Will Langley and Cody Williams.
The “no bull platform,” according to Adams, includes goals such as fighting tuition and fee increases, redesigning the General Education Requirement, enhancing the Hillsborough Hike, fighting parking pass increases and introducing an easily accessible student input link on the Student Government homepage.
Adams said the connections he has made in his time as a senator will benefit him in the Student Senate presidency.
“I have relationships with administration across campus,” he said. “I feel like I can convince them that Student Government has the competence to focus on the good of the student body as a self-governing entity.”
