Women’s basketball coach Kay Yow announced Wednesday in a press release she will be “taking a leave of absence from her coaching duties for an indefinite period of time” due to a progression of her breast cancer, which she was first diagnosed with in 1987.
Yow missed the team’s games at Arizona and UC Santa Barbara over the weekend.
She also sat out for a short period two seasons ago when she had a recurrence of the cancer. Yow, 64, has 696 career victories.
Associate head coach Stephanie Glance will be the interim coach until Yow returns.
