At 1:38 p.m. Friday, a driver failed to yield a right of way while turning at the intersection of Varsity Drive and Avent Ferry, resulting in a collision, according to Officer T.R. Matthews of Raleigh Police.
Neither of the drivers appeared to be injured and were not transported from the scene by EMS.
“I have no idea what happened,” the student driver, who declined to release her name said, “I was turning from Avent Ferry onto Varsity and I had a green.”
Jane Dunbar, a Cary resident, said she was on Varsity Drive crossing Avent Ferry on her way to Centennial Campus when the car hit her. She said she had a green light.
Louisa Chrisco, a senior in animal science, said she was sitting at the stoplight.
“I was stopped and I saw the cars hit,” she said. “One of them was coming towards me and I braced myself.”
She said the vehicle hit the front of hers, resulting in dents to her front bumper. Scott Kincaid, a sophomore in history education, said he witnessed the collision while also sitting at a stoplight.
“It was a heavy collision,” he said. “It was loud.”
