Spring is in the air … and so are the golf balls flying over fairways across the Triangle. With record-breaking temperatures heating Raleigh up earlier in the season than usual, student golfers are taking advantage of the warm weather and the abundance of courses the capital city has to offer.
“Raleigh is a good place to be a golfer,” Daniel Gaeckle, a junior in professional golf management, said. “In addition to the courses here, you’ve got Pinehurst around the corner, and Myrtle Beach is only a few hours away.”
With stiff competition from these nearby golf meccas, Raleigh stands up to its nationally known competitors with its sheer quantity of golf courses alone. When Forbes magazine ranked Raleigh the No. 1 place for business and careers in the U.S., part of its ranking index relied on culture and leisure — including the golf courses the city has to offer.
