“The Evolution of Useful Things” looks at engineering, design
Henry Petroski, a Duke University professor of history and civil engineering will speak about engineering today at 5:30 p.m. at the Engineering II Building on Centennial Campus.
Petroski will offer insights on design and its success and failure and the history of engineering and technology. He is regularly on radio and television programs in the United States and overseas. Petroski has written 12 books. He has also been profiled in magazines and newspapers, such as the US News & World Report and the New York Times.
The N.C. State Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, Student Chapter, the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, Carolinas Chapter, and the Institute of Industrial Engineers, Raleigh Chapter, will co-sponsor the event. It is free and open to the public.
