Wake senior wide receiver Kenneth Moore talked with the Technician Deputy Sports Editor Nick Jeffreys on Wednesday. As a junior, Moore averaged 13 yards per return while finishing the season with 507 yards rushing and 314 yards receiving.
Technician: You guys started off the season strong, but the past two weeks, against Virginia and Clemson, your team has struggled. How do you bounce back from that?Moore: We got to come out and work hard, basically. Those are two bumps we had. The Virginia one hurt, and then we got our butt whooped at Clemson last week — you got to come in and work hard in practice and be ready for Saturday.
Technician: On the other hand, State started off poorly, but they’ve come on as of late, winning four straight. How do you cool off a team like that and take away some of its confidence?Moore: They are definitely on a roll. They are going to come in and give us their best shot. We got to be ready for it — it’s at home. We are going to have a home crowd behind us, and this is a big game because we’re both trying to make sure we go to a bowl game.
Technician: How important is Senior Night and your last [home] game at Wake Forest to you?Moore: It’s real big — it’s the last time we get to play in front of the crowd at Groves Stadium. This is it. So me and the other seniors want to come out with a win.
Technician: While you don’t use it as much this season, the misdirection has really given teams a hard time — especially N.C. State. Why has this been so effective?Moore: It’s been very effective. All we need is somebody to get out of position for one quick second, and we can take advantage of it. We use our speed on our team of offense, and it’s worked out a lot for us. We haven’t been doing too much of it lately, but hopefully we can work it back in there and use it to our advantage.
Technician: Looking back at last year, you guys showed the nation a whole lot — what did you guys show the country?Moore: We are basically showing people a little something about Wake Forest. Not too many people know where Wake Forest is located and probably never heard of it. We’re definitely trying to put it on the map and do things that have never been done here before.
