What Happened? The Wolfpack went 0-2 over the weekend, losing 3-0 to Maryland on Friday and 3-1 to Boston College on Sunday. State tried to make a comeback in its match against the Eagles, but couldn’t take it to a fifth game.
What’s Hot?According to coach Charita Stubbs, the freshman have been playing very well as the ACC season winds down.
“It’s very difficult for a freshman to come in and run a program, and have a coach in their ear all the time, and have to make decisions on the floor and know the personality of the team,” Stubbs said.
“The positions that they are in are three of the more crucial positions — the setter and the libero being the most important. So I think that they have done their job for the most part. I’m very excited about them,” said Stubbs.
What’s Not? The ACC winless streak continues. Sunday’s loss to Boston College increased the losing streak to 50 games. Though Sunday’s match was close, freshman libero Lindsay Benac said the team will go into this weeks’ practice knowing it’s capable of winning.
“We always do work hard, it’s just executing, that’s what we just need to do,” Benac said. “I have no doubt that we want to win so bad.”
What’s Next? The Pack has two remaining home matches left on its schedule. The team will first host Virginia on Thursday at 7 p.m. The team’s final home match will be against Virginia Tech on Friday at 7 p.m.
