Senior tight end Anthony Hill, who led the team with 45 receptions for 478 yards in 2006, will not play in 2007 after undergoing reconstructive knee surgery Wednesday.
According to a press release announcing he will miss the season, Hill had twisted his knee a few weeks ago but the team didn’t know the exact injury until a diagnostic arthroscopic procedure on Wednesday. Hill will redshirt during the 2007 season.
Earlier in the day Wednesday, the ACC released its pre-season All-ACC team, which included senior defensive tackle DeMario Pressley and senior kick return man Darrell Blackman.
Pressley had 46 tackles and two sacks last season.
Blackman averaged 28.9 yards per kickoff return and 8.6 yards per punt return while returning one kickoff and one punt for a touchdown. He said he’s excited about kickoffs now being on the 30-yard line, giving him more time to get a return and making it harder for kickers to boot the ball out of the end zone.
Pressley said Blackman is “all about business.” Blackman is also a pretty good dancer, Pressley said, but Blackman is in his element on kick returns.
“I would rather see him on kick returns than on the dance floor,” Pressley said.
