Matt White is not an artist with a common household name. But he does have songs that are commonly in households.
The singer and songwriter’s first album only debuted last week, but his songs have been making their debuts in movies like Shrek the Third, Because I Said So and She’s the Man for more than a year. His music is light and poppy.
The album, Best Days, is full of songs about love and being young, and rightfully so, White said.
“I wrote the album when I was in college … It’s like when you are a kid you are allowed to do whatever you want, and when you are an adult you are expected to grow up,” White said. “Its kind of those middle years.”
So far, the album has been a success, according to him. He credits most of this “success” to his producers.
“I had the three best producers you can imagine.”
Like the majority of bands, there is only one thing for White to do now — tour. He will be starting his tour with a stop at The Pour House Sunday.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” he said. “I like to talk a lot and make fun of myself. I make sure people have a good time and leave with a good feeling.”
Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the show is at 9 p.m. Derek James will be opening up.
