MusicSPARK, part of the second annual SPARK CON Festival, will showcase bands from different genres including hip-hop, blues, country, rock, pop and classical, including performances by the North Carolina Opera and the North Carolina Symphony.
The music festival is scheduled to begin Thursday night with a show at Tir Na Nog. It will be hosted by WKNC and feature indie rock music. The performance will start at 9 p.m. and cost $3.
The festival will also have performances at venues throughout downtown Raleigh, including Lincoln Theatre, Moonlight Pizza, The Riviera and Berkeley Cafe. Each event will showcase a different genre of music, and all shows will have individual ticket prices, which range from free shows to $20 per person.
Lynnea Villanova, who is helping to organize Spark Con, said the music festival has expanded since last year.
“We’re expecting around 2,000 people,” Villanova said. “It’s much bigger.”
The Spark Con Festival also includes filmSPARK, artSPARK and fashionSPARK.
This year for musicSPARK, Villanova said the theme is all-inclusive.
“They can expect to hear music of all different genres, or they can pick and chose to go to one genres,” she said. “They will see some really great local talent.”
