What happened –The team won three of its four matches in the season-opening N.C. Central Tournament Friday and Saturday. Senior libero Andrea Bentley was hurt in the team’s opening match against South Carolina State. Nine freshmen saw playing time in the tournament.
Who’s leading the team –Freshmen Lauren Zaniboni and Megan Rehmer lead the team with 67 and 39 kills, respectively. Sophomore Janay Yancey leads the team with 15 total blocks, while senior Ashley Wallace and Rehmer each have seven.
What’s next –The team will play in the Campus USA Credit Union Invitational at the University of Florida in Gainesville Friday and Saturday. State will face off against Santa Clara, Florida and Georgia Southern. The Pack goes against the seventh-ranked host Gators at 7:30 p.m. Friday. After not being able to help with last season’s schedule, second-year coach Charita Stubbs said this tournament was one she definitely helpedschedule to challenge her team.
