University officials have not confirmed the decision to not hire Glance, but Ronnie Yow, Kay Yow’s brother, told WRAL Thursday night Glance was no longer in consideration for the job.
Media relations contact Mark Kimmel would not confirm that decision Friday and said the University would not comment on the coaching search until a new coach was announced.
“We’re not confirming anything,” Kimmel said.
Kimmel said the announcement would likely not come before next week and said he did not expect any sort of announcement during the weekend. Athletics Director Lee Fowler said he wanted to make a decision on the head coaching position by the middle of April.
Several media outlets in the area have reported that interim women’s basketball coach Stephanie Glance is no longer a candidate for the head coaching job at N.C. State.
Glance took over for the late Kay Yow in January after Yow lost her battle with breast cancer after 22 years.
Glance went 5-6 as the interim head coach after Yow’s death Jan. 24. The team won the fourth annual Hoops 4 Hope game against a ranked Virginia team Feb. 15 and fell in the first round of the ACC Tournament to Wake Forest.
