Homecoming’s Pack Howl concert has featured such starlets as Ludacris, Chris Daughtry Common and Nerd in year’s past, but the Homecoming committee will not be able to bring a headlining performer due to the University’s budget cuts.
Adam Compton, Homecoming chair, said the committee is trying to figure out how to make the performance impressive on a limited budget.
“The only difference the students will see is that the name of the act wont be as big as in past years,” Compton said.
Compton said the committee hopes to offer a large performance made up by local bands, but hopes students will bear with the committee as it operates on a shoestring budget.
“We hope the students will understand it’s been a tough year for everyone,” Compton said. “The concert won’t be going away, it’s just a matter of how big the name of the act will be.”
Compton said the committee is spending less money than it did in the past, adding donors aren’t contributing as much money as last year.
“We’re still trying to work with the budget and additional money to get to the best results that will draw students the most,” Compton said. “I hope more students will get out there and be involved in the week long activities during Homecoming week. ”
