Rising junior guard C.J. Bryce will transfer from UNC-Wilmington and join the NC State men’s basketball program, he announced Saturday. In addition, Utah guard Devon Daniels, a rising sophomore, also announced he will join the Pack.
Bryce was deciding between NC State and the University of South Carolina, but elected to follow his former head coach at Wilmington, Kevin Keatts, to Raleigh.
As an undergraduate transfer, Bryce is ineligible to play in the 2017-18 season and will redshirt a year. He will be able to play for the Pack starting in 2018-19 and will have two years of eligibility for the Pack after sitting out next season.
The 6-foot-5 Charlotte native had a productive sophomore year for a Seahawks squad that reached its second-straight NCAA tournament last season, averaging 17.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He posted eight points and three rebounds in Wilmington’s 76-71 loss to Virginia in the opening round of last year’s tournament.
Daniels was between NCSU and San Diego State, and also decided on the Wolfpack. He will also need to sit out next season, and will have three years of eligibility for the Pack starting in 2018-19.
Daniels, also 6-5, and hailing from Battle Creek, Michigan, averaged 9.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for the Utes last season.
