According to a WolfAlert sent at 3:33 p.m. on Thursday, University Police received a report of a sexual assault occurring possibly at Brooks Lot, near Hillsborough Street and Brooks Ave.
According to the alert, the survivor reported that she was approached by two white males in a gray pick-up truck at approximately 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning. One of the subjects jumped out of the truck and forced her into Brooks Lot where he sexually assaulted her.
The two subjects are described as being white males, aged 20-25, with medium build and short hair.
The assault was originally reported to Raleigh Police Department, according to Maj. David Kelly of the NC State University Police Department, because the incident was originally believed to have occurred off campus. According to Kelly, University Police are also seeking security footage or pictures of the suspects.
According to the 2016 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report released by NC State University Police, total reports to Campus Police of rape and fondling increased from six in 2013 to 15 in 2015. Reports of any kind of sex offense (also including stalking, domestic violence and dating violence) have increased from 23 to 53 in the same period.
