NC State men’s basketball guard Terry Henderson’s waiver request for a sixth year of eligibility was denied by the NCAA, NC State confirmed Friday.
Henderson shared a message via the men’s basketball team’s official Twitter account.
“I would like to thank everyone who supported me since day one and through this appeal process,” Henderson said in the message. “Unfortunately, the decision was turned down by the NCAA and I will now turn my focus towards a professional career.
“I want to thank Wolfpack Nation, WVU, the coaches, and all my teammates for all of your teaching and support during my time in college. It was an honor and privilege to come back to Raleigh and play college basketball in my hometown. Great things are coming for the future of Wolfpack basketball and I will forever bleed red and white.”
The Raleigh native started 32 games last year, averaging 13.8 points per game. He was known for his 3-point shooting prowess, connecting on 38 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc, leading last year’s Wolfpack in that regard. Head coach Kevin Keatts is left with a likely guard rotation of Markell Johnson, Torin Dorn, Lavar Batts and Al Freeman.
