NC State and head swimming and diving coach Braden Holloway have agreed to a contract extension through 2022, Athletics Director Debbie Yow announced Monday in a statement from NC State Athletics.
Holloway is currently in his seventh year in charge of the Pack, and has been named ACC Coach of the Year five times during his tenure. A former Wolfpack swimmer himself, Holloway led NC State to a banner year last season, winning the ACC title in both men’s and women’s swimming for the first time since 1980.
The new deal secures Holloway through the 2021-22 season, but three one-year extensions written into the contract could be triggered to keep Holloway in Raleigh through 2025.
“Braden Holloway is in my view the best swimming and diving coach in the country, and this new deal reflects our commitment,” Yow told NC State Athletics. “This new contract helps ensure that Braden will be leading NC State swimming and diving for a long time.”
The Wolfpack has experienced incredible success, especially in recent years, under Holloway, as both the men’s and women’s teams have finished in the top 10 at NCAAs each of the last two seasons. Last year, both teams garnered the highest-ever national finish State has seen, with the men finishing in fourth and the women in seventh.
“My family and I are grateful for the commitment from NC State and Debbie Yow,” Holloway told NC State Athletics. “NC State is home. I swam here, it’s a privilege to coach here, and I look forward to many great years ahead with the Wolfpack.”
