Coming off a 1-0 loss to rival No. 5 UNC-Chapel Hill at WakeMed Soccer Park Friday night, the NC State men’s soccer team returns to Dail Soccer Stadium Tuesday night to take on the Belmont Bruins.
The Wolfpack is 4-4-1 and 1-3 in the ACC after opening their ACC slate with matchups against four top-five teams in a row. Freshman forward Manny Perez leads the team with three goals and seven points while senior midfielder Julius Duchscherer has two goals in the last two games.
Freshman goalkeeper Leon Krapf has taken ahold of the starting spot and ran with it. Krapf has played the entirety of all nine games, has three shutouts to his name and allows an average of 1.41 goals per game.
The Bruins come to Raleigh with a 3-3-2 record and a 1-3 record in the Ohio Valley Conference. Belmont has lost two games in a row to Detroit Mercy and Cleveland State.
Forward Matteo Benatti leads the team with three goals and seven points. Forward Creaghan Diekema has a goal and three points on the campaign.
As a team, the Bruins allow an average of one goal per game led by their junior goalie Alex Seeley. He has three shutouts through seven games and allows an average of 0.91 goals per game. Seeley also carries a 0.8 save percentage into the game against the Pack.
The matchup to watch will be the Pack’s offense against the Bruins’ defense. If the Pack is able to get a goal or two past Seeley, they will have a great chance to win.
This is the first game between the two teams since 2012 when the Bruins came to Raleigh and defeated the Pack 1-0.
